Collection: Halliday Avray Wilson

Halliday Avray Wilson (b. 1967) is a British artist based in France. He is ONLY THE 4TH EVER Englishman to receive the French honour of Chevalier des Arts et Lettres for his contribution to the arts. Hal was trained in fine art in Oxford and Florence. He was profoundly influenced from his upbringing by his grandfather Frank Avray Wilson who was linked to Tachism and the COBRA group.

Hal held his first solo exhibition entitled ‘Schadenfreude’ in London's Cork Street, which was followed by ‘Blastface’ in Berlin in 1999 which featured work made with plastic explosives and decommissioned German weapons.  Primarily a sculptor, his commissions include a large-scale abstraction of a racehorse (based on a Stubbs equestrian portrait) in steel for the Weatherby Racing Group UK.  One of his most innovative commissions created by a blast process, ‘The Running Man,’ was exhibited at The Olympic Village for the duration of the London Olympic Games.

His most famous work is Victoire celebrating SOE and the French resistance in the Auvergne.
Hal’s work has appeared at the Royal Academy, Chelsea Flower Show, Birmingham NEC, Hampton Court, Battersea Contemporary Art Fair, Royal Ascot, Chateau Maison Lafitte and Polo Ralph Lauren. His secondary market is proven and he has sold well in auction at Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Drouot.
