Collection: Abdullah Qandeel
I recently lunched with Abdullah in Oxfordshire. He was his usual ebullient stallion self, high on life and effervescing with energy. We recalled our Banya with Lindsay Lohan [when I passed out from the heat]." He is an extraordinary creative force, and he is going to be remembered not only as one of the greatest Arabian artists, but a towering international contemporary talent who is now on the cusp of greatness in the panoply of top living artists. He is also an Enfant Terrible. I like to think I have a strong constitution. Abdullah leaves me for dust. Though I have been quite good at clearing up the mess… He does have a habit of decorating the walls and furniture of 5 star hotel rooms.
We offer you a small selection of his latest wonder paintings. I am, of course, available to discuss acquisition of his work.
Abdullah Qandeel was born in 1988 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Qandeel lives and works in New York creating passionate and energetic large scale abstract paintings which he has exhibited across the world in exhibitions in Monte Carlo, New York and Jeddah. His colourful, bold and striking displays break from the traditional norms of the Arab world and signify the vastly changing cultural landscape. In 2012 one of his works was selected by the Saudi Arabian Mission to the UN to exhibit as a solo artist at the Waldorf Astoria in New York in celebration of Saudi Arabia’s National Day and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia gifted a work by Qandeel to the US Ambassador to the UN. A smaller abstract canvas, titled The Race, by Abdullah Qandeel sold at Sotheby’s, Doha for $274,000 against a $20,000-30,000 estimate in their Contemporary Art auction in April 2015.
